In the Studio with Neadeen

"Where Tiny Worlds Come to Life"

In THE Studio with Neadeen

Welcome to My Studio

This is my happy place. It's not fancy, its practical, but every shelf, drawer and worktable has a specific purpose. Over the years I've collected thousands of miniature supplies and raw crafting materials. Every shelf holds the ingredients for another tiny world... and of course...'Special' tools'. It's where online classes are filmed, ideas are tested, dollhouses are built, and tiny stories come to life.

Organized Creativity

People are often surprised by how organized my studio is. They expect paint splattered everywhere and mountains of supplies balanced precariously on every surface! While my workbench certainly gets busy in the middle of a project, I'm a bit of a neatnik at heart. Every paintbrush, fabric swatch, piece of trim, and miniature has its own home. That organization allows me to move effortlessly from painting to decorating, filming, teaching, and creating without missing a beat. Around here, even the tiniest chair knows exactly where it belongs!

From Concept to Creation

One of the things that keeps my studio running efficiently is the way it's organized. The left side of the studio is devoted almost entirely to raw materials, the building blocks of creativity. Here you'll find my wood mouldings, paints, fabrics, trims, papers, tools, and thousands of carefully sorted supplies waiting to become part of a miniature project. The right side of the studio is where those raw materials become finished treasures. Shelves are filled with miniature furniture, accessories, artwork, lighting, and completed pieces, all ready to find their place in a dollhouse. Separating the studio into these two distinct work zones allows ideas to flow naturally from concept to creation, making the creative process both inspiring and efficient.

The Work Table

At the heart of my studio is a large pub-height work table, the true hub of almost every project. Originally designed as a dining table, its extra height makes it perfect for miniature work, allowing me to stand comfortably while building, painting, and arranging tiny details without constantly bending over. It provides a generous work surface where several projects can be spread out at once, while the space underneath is put to good use storing larger items such as dollhouse flooring panels, building components, and supplies that aren't needed every day but are always within easy reach. Behind the work area sits my full-sized artist's easel on wheels, ready whenever I switch from miniatures to painting. Like everything else in the studio, every cabinet, shelf, and storage unit has a dedicated purpose, making it easy to find exactly what I need and keep the creative process flowing.

Behind The Scenes

Some days you'll find me planning a new dollhouse, painting miniature artwork, experimenting with colour combinations, writing, (love writing) or planning an online class. Every project begins with a simple idea, grows through creativity and careful planning, and eventually finds its way onto my worktable.

Every dollhouse renovation begins as an empty shell before slowly developing its own unique personality and story. To get there, involves time, effort and a bit of a busy mess.

EVERY DOLLHOUSE HAS A STORY... COME INSIDE

Every dollhouse tells a story long before the furniture is arranged or the wallpaper is hung. These signature projects represent years of creativity, and countless tiny details. Each has its own personality, colour palette, decorating journey, and behind-the-scenes videos documenting the process from beginning to end.

A Closer Look - Studio Organization

Organized by Colour, Designed for Creativity.

If you've ever stepped into my studio areas, you might notice that I don't organize my supplies by type, I organize them by colour. Fabrics, yarns, embroidery threads, beads, trims, and many of my miniature materials all live within their own colour families. It may seem unusual at first, but it allows me to see endless possibilities at a glance and quickly gather everything I need for a particular project.

Colour has always been at the heart of my work. When inspiration strikes, I can immediately surround myself with the exact palette I'm looking for instead of searching through countless containers. It saves time, encourages creativity, and helps every miniature room develop a balanced, harmonious look from the very beginning.

The Power of Colour Organization

Finding Inspiration Through Colour

Finding Inspiration Through Colour

Working this way keeps the creative process flowing. Colour is often the starting point for every room I design, and having each colour family organized together allows me to compare shades, experiment with combinations, and make confident decorating decisions.

For me, colour is the first spark of inspiration, setting the mood and guiding every creative decision that follows. The right colour palette has a way of unlocking creativity, turning a simple idea into something beautiful and full of character.

Working Smart - I can immediately reach for the exact palette I need, whether it's the soft blue-violets of a seaside cottage, the warm yellow-oranges of an autumn kitchen, or the rich red-violets of a Victorian parlour.

Every Great Dollhouse Begins Here

Everything you've seen on this page eventually finds its way into one of my miniature worlds—from a colour swatch on the worktable to a finished room filled with character. Every project begins right here. If you've enjoyed this behind-the-scenes tour, come and see where all those ideas come to life.
