Meet Neadeen

I was born and raised on the beautiful Caribbean island of Trinidad, where sunshine, colourful architecture, and tropical gardens quietly shaped my love of colour long before I ever realized it. Although the islands will always hold a special place in my heart, I've proudly called Western Canada home for more than forty-five years.

I'm also a devoted wife of 50 years, the proud mother of two grown children, 'Grammy' to six energetic grandchildren, and a lifelong animal lover. Between family, furry friends, paintbrushes, and dollhouses, life has never been accused of being boring.

Creativity has been the common thread running through my entire life.

For more than forty years, I've had the privilege of helping others discover their own creative abilities. I've owned and operated a successful teaching art studio, travelled throughout Canada and the United States presenting seminars for adult artists, contributed to the development of educational painting programs, and taught under a nationally recognized paint brand.

One of the greatest adventures of my career was co-owning one of the early online art schools for seventeen years, where we welcomed artists from around the world. Long before online learning became the norm, we were building a creative community that continues to hold a special place in my heart.

Like many wonderful chapters in life, this one began with grandchildren and what I like to call semi-retirement. I say "semi" because anyone who knows me realizes retirement and I have never really been on speaking terms.

It was during this season that I discovered the fascinating world of dollhouses and miniatures. What started as simple curiosity quickly became an all-consuming creative adventure. Suddenly, everything I'd learned about art, colour, design, composition, and storytelling found a brand-new canvas, only this time, it was one-twelfth the size.

People sometimes ask why I became so passionate about dollhouses after an entire career in the art world. The truth is, I never really changed directions, I simply changed scale. Everything I'd spent decades teaching about colour, balance, storytelling, composition, and creativity suddenly found a new home inside miniature rooms.

One dollhouse somehow became...fourteen. 

Apparently they multiply when you're not looking.

Each vintage dollhouse has its own personality, history, and restoration journey. Today, through Neadeen's Dollhouses & Miniatures, I share that passion by creating miniature accessories, teaching decorating and design, colour principles, exploring storytelling, and encouraging others to build miniature worlds that feel authentic, personal, and full of life.

For me, a dollhouse is far more than tiny furniture and pretty rooms. It's a place where creativity, imagination, colour, and story come together to create something truly memorable.

Looking back, my journey has taken me from the warm Caribbean shores of Trinidad to the mountains of Western Canada; from teaching thousands of artists with a full-sized paintbrush to inspiring miniature enthusiasts with brushes so tiny they almost disappear.

Every experience has led me here.

Today, my greatest joy comes from helping others gain the confidence to create beautiful miniature spaces, understand the principles of colour and design, and discover that every dollhouse has a story waiting to be told.

After all...it's never really been about the dollhouse.

It's always been about the creativity inside the person building it.
