One of the biggest lessons I've learned over the years is that the story doesn't begin when you open the front door; it begins the moment you see the house. Long before anyone notices the furniture or wallpaper, they're already forming an impression from the architecture, the garden, the front steps, and even the way the light falls across the porch. Those first impressions invite us to step closer; to imagine who lives there, and to wonder what stories might be waiting inside. For me, that's where the magic begins.

The Outside Should Belong to the Same Story
When I design a dollhouse, I never think of the exterior and interior as separate projects. The person who lives behind the front door is the same person who chose the garden, placed the chair on the porch, hung the sign by the gate, or left the fishing nets beside the dock. Every exterior detail should feel as though it belongs to the life unfolding inside.
That doesn’t mean every exterior needs to be elaborate. A single flower box, a weathered step, or a carefully chosen lantern may say more than dozens of unrelated accessories. The goal is not to add more—it is to choose details with meaning.
