Every Detail Has a Purpose - Every Room Tells a Story
It Begins with Carefully Chosen and Meaningful Accessories
A beautifully decorated room isn't created by simply filling empty spaces with accessories. It's created by carefully choosing objects that belong there.
Every lamp, every painting, every basket, every worn book, every handmade quilt and every tiny collection should reveal something about the people who live in that miniature world.
When every detail has a purpose, a dollhouse stops looking decorated...
and starts feeling lived in.

Some beautifully decorated dollhouses are technically impressive...Yet they still don't feel believable.
Why? Because the furniture, colours and accessories don't connect to one another.
• A retired sea captain decorates differently than a Victorian lady.
• A gardener treasures different possessions than an antique dealer.
• A farmhouse grandmother surrounds herself with different objects than someone living beside the sea.
In this course you'll learn how to make every decorating decision support the story you've already created.

It's not simply about adding more accessories. It's about learning to notice, choose and arrange details with intention, so that a miniature space feels believable, personal and complete.
This isn't about buying more miniatures. It's about choosing the right ones.
You'll learn how to select details that naturally belong together. Instead of filling shelves...
you'll create collections. Instead of placing accessories...you'll create memories. Instead of decorating rooms...you'll create lives.
Before adding anything to your room, ask yourself:
• Who owns this?
• Why would they keep it?
• Where did they get it?
• Does it suit their personality?
• Does it fit the time period?
• Does it support the story?
If you can't answer those questions...
it probably doesn't belong

Throughout this course I'll take you behind the decorating decisions I've made in Harbour Light Cottage, the Garden Centre and many of the miniature worlds you've followed over the years.
Together we'll explore how every accessory, every collection, every artwork and every weathered finish was chosen to support the story—not simply fill an empty space.
You'll leave with a completely different way of looking at miniature decorating, one that you can apply immediately to your own projects.

Behind Beautiful Dollhouse Rooms
This is a practical design and curating course designed specifically for dollhouse enthusiasts. I'll show you exactly how I collect, select, and choose details for dollhouses when curating my own miniature houses, including Harbour Light Cottage and many of the projects you've followed over the years.
We'll use real miniature rooms, make authentic design decisions, and provide real examples. You'll learn to apply miniature design principles you can begin using immediately.

-Colour creates the mood.
-Room Design creates the structure.
-Details bring the room to life.
-Storytelling weaves everything together into one believable miniature world.

Learn to Think Like a Storyteller
In Part One, I'll introduce you to a completely different way of looking at miniature decorating—one that changes how you see every room you create. Once you begin thinking this way, your decorating decisions will become more intentional, more meaningful, and far more believable.

Build Believable Layers
The smallest details often make the biggest difference—but knowing which details matter isn't always obvious. I'll share the design approach I use to create miniature spaces that feel warm, authentic, and naturally collected over time. You'll never look at a miniature room the same way again.

Bring the Story to Life
This is where everything comes together. You'll discover how thoughtful design decisions can transform a beautifully decorated dollhouse into a miniature world that feels lived in, loved, and full of character. It's the finishing stage that gives every room its personality and every home its unique story.

Beautiful miniature rooms aren't created by adding more things. They're created by making thoughtful choices
For over forty years, I've learned that the most memorable miniature rooms aren't necessarily the most expensive or the most elaborate. They're the ones that feel authentic.
Every object has a reason for being there. Every accessory reflects the personality of the people who live in the room. Every layer adds another chapter to the story.
That's the approach I'll share throughout this course—not simply how to decorate a room, but how to create miniature spaces that feel warm, believable and full of life.

Whether you're just beginning or have years of experience, this course is designed to help you decorate with confidence and apply it to your own dollhouse projects.
