Inspiration - using colour to create the WOW FACTOR

Do you have a colour favourite? e.g. Blues, Reds, Yellows, Greens? Most of us do...but dollhouse interior design is often different from colours we wear on our person...When it comes to decorating, its more about finding the right combination of colours to set the mood, tone and style...That's the key to success.  

Colours trigger memories, evoke emotions and establish moods. The overall vibe of a room depends on how colour is used to create the energy of the room. It can take the space from drab to fab and make you want to stay or escape!

Think about the room's use. How might that impact the overall mood of the space. A child's playroom is high energy, happy and fun...'olive green' might not be the best colour for that space. Bright primary colours used on children's toys are for that reason. Olive Green hues are better suited for a sophisticated library where a quiet subdued mood is required.

Sometimes the style of the house will suggest a colour palette from that era. But hey! It's YOUR dollhouse, and "no dollhouse police gonna be coming for ya!" if you do otherwise. I do it all the time. 

BUT: If you want to stay true to the original design of the house, e.g. (Victorian,Colonial,Modern,Mid-Century,etc.) find the colour palette from that era. My blog is full of great articles on this subject.
